First awards to community groups announced

Trustees of the Neilston Windfarm Legacy (NWL) are pleased to announce the outcome of the first round of grant applications.

After detailed scrutiny against published criteria, offers of funding, with conditions, have been made to the following organisations:

  • Neilston Community Sports Hub (£50,000) in-principle support for an all-weather, multi-use training pitch at Brig O’Lea.
  • Include Me 2 (£14,488) for daytime learning activities at Neilston Hub Club.
  • Neilston Bowling Club (£5,000) to help renovate the historic 1903 Clubhouse, which village community groups and individuals can use for events free of charge.
  • Levern Valley Community Brass (£5340) for a residential intensive tutoring weekend. The band actively recruits pupils from the village primary schools and the linked secondaries.
  • Neilston 1st Boys Brigade (£2,000) for a residential outdoor experience at Lapwing Lodge.
  • Glen Halls Indoor Bowling (£250) for publicity materials and catering.
  • Neilston Scouts Centenary Garden (£19,000) for landscaping/planting an outdoor activity area accessible to all.

Stories and pictures for these projects will be shared over coming months.
